Would Zerodha Pi going to compete with Ambibroker ?

#1
Currentely I am thinking of Buying Ambibroker which supports AFL.
Zerodha is also coming up with its own scripting language.

I am newbie to this automated trading and need info on same.

Should I purchase Ambibroker and start learning for long term or
Zerodha Pi might become alternative to Ambibroker and should not purchase Ambibroker

No, As far as I know Pi can not be a substitute of AMIBROKER, though its correct, you can do minor simple coding with Pi in strategies. But, that would not help in doing profitable trading.

Also, like NEST Trader, ZERODHA would also charge a sum around INR250++(I m not aware correct rate) for Bridging AMIBROKER with Pi, but that too SEMI AUTOMATIC only. So, of no use.

Any senior having more updates may help this member.

LOL, there is no competition with Ami. Pi is just born , ami is way ahead of it. Pi cannot simply catch it over night or even 10 yrs down the line.

Look at ami support system. The way its managed with new request/existing issues with the dev team. They have a record of every issue/new requirement on the site that gets added in the new versions.

you cannot compare a baby to an adult.

thanks especially seeing everybody giving advice in same direction and that put little confusion in mind....Is there Trading Palform which can be custimized using our own C++ functions...For example quantconnect provides this but with C# "https://www.quantconnect.com/"
I am looking for C++ platform

You are spoilt for choices ... and programming choices can easily derail your trading.

Amibroker provides C++, C++ via COM and C# via COM in addition to plain 'ol VB Script.

In addition to this, some third party Euro guy has written a library that he sells and his library allows you to write well-powered plugins in any .NET programming language (C#/VB....)

Another Russian guy shares source code of a free library that too enables .NET for Ami but I was unable to get the Russian stuff working... (Maybe its my fault or lack of understanding, maybe its something else ...)

NinjaTrader supports C# and it too allows usage of C++ for some of its export functionality.

Metastock supports C++ programming thru external DLL interface in addition to its template-based scripting language and I am sure you will find few other languages options under its hood too

FCharts also provides programming ability in scripting language that is canned down version of C

A while ago, I had seen a trading software that ran on Boost C++ Library and PROLOG ...

There are softwares that support Java too ...

Lastly, if you were to place serious enough cash on table, you could find someone willing to make you a software that will run your own home made programming language ...

Hi friends... great,interactive post !!

But I guess I might be missing something. Could one of you guyz clarify :

In my understanding Amibroker is basically a technical analysis tool. I haven't used it but it appears to have great preset charts reports as well as it may allow customized strategical reports...

and I thought Zerodha PI was actually a trading platform, meaning it is the interface through which Zerodha customers could place their orders... ofcourse it may have its own limited analysis tools but may not be as extensive as Ami's.

In a way I thought Ami as a product could supplement a Zerodha trader... and are not to be compared against each other..

Please let me know if my understanding is right...
And if so, I don't think Zerodha offers really customizable strategies for trading, and automated trading in the real sense is till date not available.
I thought the maximum you get is to use a bracket order and trailing stop loss...

Looking forward to your replies :):)

Cheers.
