Thanks for your selfless effort, your updates will be eagerly awaited. And guys though I am not a moderator, I would still request you not to clutter up this gem of a thread by posting queries which are neither relevant nor pertinent to the premise of the thread. There are separate sub forums to address the issues of your queries regarding data and learning technical analysis or ami usage. Regards, |

I guess nothing happens because what Karthik uploaded is named sectorindustry whereas in the loaddata.afl what is pointed out is the stockindustry.txt file. So all you need to do is to rename the file that Karthik loaded to stockindustry.txt and copy it to the directory - in Karthiks afl it is on d drive - or wherever the loaddata.afl file points to. So if you have not edited karthiks original afl file, then just paste it to root directory d:/stockindustr.txt. This will work. My question to Karthik of course is that once we have used the old Stock/sector file and the stocks are in their respective industries or un-assigned, will scanning the new txt file, re-arrange the industries as they are no more in Industry255. Thanks to all. Jay |

Jay
Thanks a lot for pointing out this mistake. I had manulaay adjusted the allocation and the file is a afl output. Hence I did not realize the wrong name for the file. Regarding your question to me, i am not reallu sure as I am not in a position to try it out. In my amibroker group 255 contains al the stocks Please do try it if you can let me know. Otherwise the unasigned stocks have to be moved to the group 255 manually. thanks a lot. regret the inconvenience caused to many of the members due to this oversight. regards |

Hi Karthik,
I have used Mike's txt files from 2004 onwards to make a new database. In this I applied your stock sector/ industry afl. This is more a hobby so I am coming back after a gap. You had other afl's or maybe Murthy Garu had posted them, where you had to do the charts part. Can you post these too so that I can apply the same and see. I guess in Mike's txt file the indices are missing so maybe we will not be able to make sectoral charts or graphs but do advice. I am posting the updated file so that you can check if all is OK. I think when I tried to load your latest file, over the last one, I got some gibberish and therefore I restarted with a fresh file. I will experiment and keep you posted. I have also used TANewbie's Funda data and Adeers Watchlists too. Best of Luck Jay File is name Mike and is at http://www dot 4shared dot com/file/59944151/dadd0779/Mike.html http:// r_a_p_i_d_share dot com/files/139119275/Mike.rar.html Last edited by jayzarna; 22nd August 2008 at 04:36 AM. The data for the indices exists in the text files as uploaded. One can check it by opening the file in notepad. However the data for synthetic indices as created by Karthik's & Murthy's thread or as created by Adheer's thread has not been included. The option has been kept open for users for creation of synthetic indices of their own choice. Regards, |
