questions for backtesting...

dear all seniors....
as i was experimenting with backtesting ... i just think that if any backtesting result gives me negative results.. just opposing the condition.. means buy is sell and sell is buy ... we should have positive result ..! but it didnt happen but i still wonder why ...??
