I have an AFL which finds pivots.But I can not scan or backtest it.Amibroker says "missing buy sell variable assignments".Can anyone tell me how to add the buy/sell variable in following AFL?

Hello all!
I have an AFL which finds pivots.But I can not scan or backtest it.Amibroker says "missing buy sell variable assignments".Can anyone tell me how to add the buy/sell variable in following AFL?
Hi Sanjay,

In this AFL instead of BUY and SELL, LONG and SHORT are used. So, you just make the changes as follows in the following section of the code. As this AFL has a very long code you have to search and make the changes. Search for the region where "//END OF EXPLORATION CODE" appears and just abovr it make the changes. I have made the required changes bold in the following:

Code:
[COLOR="blue"][size=3]
// -- Risk would be top of zone - low of signal bar
//risk = 0;
}

//Filter = (bTCZShort OR bTCZLong);
[B]BUY = bTCZLong;
SELL = bTCZShort;
Filter = BUY OR SELL
[/B]
AddColumn(C, "Close");
//AddColumn(IIf(bTCZLong, 76, 83), "L/S", formatChar);
[B]AddColumn(IIf(BUY, 66, 83), "Signal", formatChar);[/B]

// **************************
// END EXPLORATION CODE
// **************************
[/COLOR][/size]
I hope it would work. In case you still face problem let me know

Are you aware that this code references future quotes? As a result, backtesting can produce spectacular results which are unrealistic.

#4
Hi Colion!
I agree that backtesting will give unrealistic results...but just check the buy signals given by this AFL and price after that..let me know.

Dear Hawaisanjay n colin,
I have saved this afl under the CUSTOMS FOLDER and when i use this AFL under Auto analysis, what are the parameters to be set under range and other options available there?

Or I just enter the number of days (what would be the ideal period) and click on SCAN???

Pls help me as I am trying my hands on to amibroker and a newbee to trading.

Appreciate your understanding in this reagrds.

Thanks n best rgds

Dear hawaisanjay

Well I gone through the above afl posted by you on TJ by reading it what I
came across is that this AFL is to find a High of high from last "n" bar or low of low of previous "n" bar and if that found, then u can get a arrow sign UP/DOWN ( Not Buy/Sell sign)

I think this is Gorden Rose AFL may be I am wrong but it seems to be , just chek this afl through BAR REPLAY if u find UP/Down arrows keeps changing or appear after 3-4 bar then I am 100 % Sure abt it.
