Suggestions on some points..

#1
I have been using Ami for quite some time now for Indian market and am very fond of the thing.. Now I want to use it for the US market and am a little concerned about the following..

1. Should I use the same db for both Indian and US markets? I do not use RT/Intraday data for Indian market because of availability of a reliable feed. But for US there are multiple options and I might as well use AB for intraday data [if not real time then for hourly charts]. I know this is possible but it might just be too much clutter I feel. What do you think?

2. I have used the db template provided by AB site to create a saperate db for US stocks with around 8000 tickers and with Amiquote I downloaded split/dividend adjusted data from 1990 to 2007 for all in about 2 hrs and I was up and running. But the issue is everyday I need to update this data and it just takes too much time so I was thinking may be I should just chuck out some tickers that I am never going to trade anyways and S&P 500 or Rusell 1000 is what I want to restrict myself to. I can get the ticker list etc but the industry classification is not there. The template provided by AB has everything nicely organized... Can we write an afl to remove tickers after doing some VLookup from a given list. Is it possible at all???

Other ideas and suggestions welcome !!

p.s. : kind ppl as this forum has if some gr8 soul can share AFLs for short term trading it will be a great help as what I have found so far in US markets are less crazy than ours and have far less whipsaws then we do.. to add to that trading costs are minimal so short term stratergy should work..

thanks,
