Lazyman question

I want to do automated trading but I find it overwhelming to hear so many new terms and frankly I don't have the time to read all that without knowing what will be useful. Basically what I want to do is this. I want to write a Java program that I will start on my computer at 9:15 am every morning and leave the house letting it connected to the internet. It will run till 3:30 doing trades according to my strategies, calling trading apis for placing orders, updating orders etc. I come home in the evening and am happy to see the money grown, or suffered a small loss and stopped trading after hitting set limits. Please just tell me which broker provides such capabilities, and I will learn about it.

If I am correct legally there is no way a retail trader can do Algotrading in india . If they want to do algo trading then they have to pass some sebi exams and also vet their algorithm in NSE which takes money and time. Any way you can look into symphonytech, zerodha and RKSV

but is it really possible , like the way the dude described. if it happens , like just switch on pc and everything will happen automatically without manual intervention is a Dream for me atleast.

Imagine I m on a vacation and that algo does everything without supervision. that would be just awesome

Hi vijkris,

Its actually very easy but i would not recommend using our personal computer for this because its cost lots of money in internet and electricity. I would recommend a cloud/server/VPS because it can do the similar function. We just have to automate and tell the server to run the script between certain time all weekdays and we dont have to do any thing but monitior the health of our system remotely.

In the end i would repeat what i said that is its very easy to deploy algo trading but sebi prevents algo trading for retailers because of flash crash(like 2008) it may cause. But I beleive not long sebi will prohibit algo trading for retails because its the future of trading.

Is the retail trader allowed full-automatic trading in India? Is it legal?

The short answer is YES. To know how to use fully automated system we will need to understand whether a broker is offering algo trading through a CTCL or IBT.

I know few retail people already doing full auto trading. I think the only barrier is technology (not regulations).

I think free automation is only through macros. One of my friend has written afl which generates text files for signals. Then a macro which reads the signals and punches orders in Nest Trader.

But again if you are not so good in programming, the only option is to hire a programmer. This again costs significant money if you are just starting out :|
