I just can't live without Norton GoBack
 I am a try-and-error noobie code writer. I always mess up my machine. I download lots of junk from internet. I try every piece of scrap Demo available on net. I visit P2P, download torrents, ********** & everything. In short I download tons of viruses, Malware, Spyware But.... I never had to format my HD. Never reinstalled my OS. Machine runs smoothly....... always. Not a single extra unknown byte sent or received from Internet (No Spywares). All credit goes to Norton GoBack. This is not about Norton antivirus. Norton Goback is standalone software.
It does not work directly against viruses. It's works like 'Time Machine' in science fiction Have a look of the attachment. It creates log for history. & Any time you can take your computer to the perfect stage at any of the available times in history. It even take MBR (Master Boot Record) to that time. How to use in different scenarios: 1] Suppose you have a system crash & windows refuses to start. Solution: just GoBack to Half an hour before the time of crash & your whole system is restored within 3 minutes. without any reinstalling. 2] Example as in this forum, you installed Metastock 10 Over your MS 9 Pro. But now u don't want 10 & want to return to 9 pro. here uninstalling do not work u got stuck, Solution: just Goback to the time before installing MS 10. even Equis wont be able to tell, u have installed v10. 3] You have deleted many of the important files inadvertently. Not even in Recycle Bin. Solution: just Goback to the time before deleting. You have everything back ! 4] You have 14 day limit Demo of some media converter.want to use it forever free. Legally. Solution: Install the demo, convert your video files from Avi to Wmv GoBack to time before installation.it wipes out hardest hidden security key installed in your computer. Bring back your converted video file from Goback recovery menu. In future whenever u want to do convertions, repeat the process The Demo will be installed as it is being installed as first time. 5] go for P2P try the things. then GoBack. Have a look ! I use a core 2 duo processor,much faster than a p4,still can't dare to use norton or mccafee. The real time traders need fast internet and machine performance,norton is a big zero in it. It is not among the best according to the AV test labs also. The best is NOD32 as antivirus.Kaspersky is also good but the problem is also speed here. For antispyware,one can use spyware doctor and spysweeper.But after ur work done.Bcz they are also going to slow ur pc.

Yes ,my personal experience is also same,after using NOD 32 (recommended by Ajay & souyma) my machine has become faster.
